ISSHINKAN DOJO
AIKIDO
Kerrisdale Community Centre
Aikido is a traditional Japanese martial art, based on the ancient techniques

of aiki-jujutsu.

Aikido's primary principles are defense and a strategy of unlimited responses.

Aikido teaches one never to oppose an opponnent's strength directly but rather to

use his strength against himself by applying circular techniques in coordination

with the opponent's momentum.Techniques are taught in order to instill in the

student a fundamental level of technical skill using wrist-locks,elbow-locks and

throwing techmiques that, with practice and experience, translate into many

dynamic responses to an attack.
